What a Tool!

The systems, processes and engines I've built to make our jobs a little easier.  And much faster.

Idea Court: Permission to Judge
Many of us have questioned the value of the brainstorming process — and I’m no different.  For me, a card-carrying cynic, the hyper-affirmational nature of brainstorming always seemed less than helpful. With this in mind, I created IDEA COURT — a system that allows teams to use constructive criticism to properly evaluate an idea and its tactics, plug holes and teach teams to confidently address even the harshest client criticism.

Breakthrough Barometer:

What Clients REALLY Want
How many times hove you heard, “Our client would NEVER do that!” — only to find out we’ve never actually asked the client?  Trying to gauge a client’s appetite for bold, creative thinking is a waste of everyone’s time.  In order to take the guesswork out of it, I created the BREAKTHROUGH BAROMETER, a tool designed to assess risk tolerance and expectations around creative ideas.

The CAT Scan: Does the Idea Measure Up?
Trying to “measure” the creative firepower of a single idea can be an exercise in futility...kinda like herding...ummm...something. The subjective nature of ideas makes this nearly impossible — until now. I developed the CAT (Creative Assessment Tool) SCAN, designed to assess the strength of a creative idea helping evaluate whether it has the potential to break through with target audiences.

Now, here’s where it gets good:  When the BREAKTHROUGH BAROMETER is administered to clients and the CAT SCAN is used to evaluate past ideas, we can compare the two results and get a near-perfect understanding of where the creative “gap” may be — giving us a guidepost for developing pitch-perfect creative for a client.

Storyteller: Once Upon a Time...
After all these years of growing sophistication and integration, it amazes me when creatives are asked to ideate around a client challenge without having a full understanding of the brand and product narrative. STORYTELLER was created to give account teams and creatives a simple way of getting to the heart of the narrative through defining who should be telling the story and where we should be telling it.

If you've read this far, you've probably learned two things.  First, I'm not a designer.  Second, I'm passionate about creativity.

Success! Message received.
